Final Project
The relationship each person has with their body is unique. This project is an exploration of Shane and his connection with his body by using light to highlight his achievements. Parts of his being are his tattoos. MMXV is the year he graduated High School drug and alcohol-free. His school was known for having issues with those as well as having a high incarceration rate. His second says, "Today I'll do what others won't do Tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't." Shane is very open about his body dysmorphia - a mental illness involving an obsessive focus on a perceived flaw in appearance. He can be highly competitive and has let the two fuel each other. He has found relief in his lifting, although not completely. The third tattoo he got "cuz it's badass." The tattoos mark his body as reminders of what he has and can accomplish.
